About Sandman Events

Driven by endurance sport

Sandman Events was founded in 2016 from a shared passion for endurance sport.

Three friends — Romeo Glorie, Wim Fierens and Jeffrey Taveirne — wanted to use their many years of experience as endurance athletes to create challenging, atmospheric sporting events on the Belgian coast.

The founders brought a substantial sporting pedigree: numerous marathons and Ironman races, extreme triathlons and events such as the Norseman, Toroman and Marathon des Sables, as well as qualification for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

That experience as participants is exactly what Sandman Events is built on. We know how months of preparation come together on one race day. That is why we aim to organise events the way we like to experience them ourselves: well organised, athletically challenging, accessible and with real attention to atmosphere and experience.

A growing team

In 2022, committed endurance athlete Joachim Trybou joined the core team. Since 2025, Amadeo Glorie has also been part of the permanent Sandman team.

Over the years, Sandman Events has grown from an initiative by three friends into an established name in endurance sport on the Belgian coast.

Today we organise a range of running, cycling and triathlon events, each with its own identity and with the coast, polders, beach and local surroundings as the backdrop.

Stronger together

Sandman Events works closely with Midlon Triathlon Club Middelkerke. This partnership brings organisers, volunteers and active triathletes together and keeps the sporting reality at the heart of our events.

Sandman Events would of course not exist without the many volunteers, marshals, clubs, local authorities and partners who support us year after year.

Sport. Coast. Character.

We are athletes ourselves, and first and foremost we organise for athletes.

From a first corrida or triathlon to an athlete looking for the next big challenge, we want everyone on the start line to feel the same thing.
